Yekaterina Kaplun, LMFT

Hello, I am Katia!

I have been fascinated with psychology since childhood. I love getting insight into what makes us all do what we do, what creates our capacity and desire for change and the ability to transform our lives. In my work, I am driven to see people overcome challenges and engage in their journey of becoming the person they want to be, or to learn how to make that journey easier. Often, this process involves tapping deep in our personal mythology, creativity and pain, but sometimes looks like simple small every day steps and tiny goals. I hope to engage my clients in compassionate and curious exploration of their inner world and motivations, along with belief in untapped possibilities and change. As we change and grow, so do our relationships with others, which often becomes the next focus of therapeutic work.

I find myself helping people with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and a variety of childhood and attachment traumas. I work with individuals as well as couples and love helping creative folks.

I believe in a custom fit where it comes to specific modalities, so a combination of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and trauma oriented interventions is often used along with mindful focus and somatic exercises, augmented with what organically comes up in our sessions.

I am grateful for the experiences that shaped her life: being an artist, a former Soviet Jew, a woman and a parent to a now teenage boy. I am thankful for life’s lessons to accept and learn from our mistakes and understand their role in our commitment to be better humans.

I have an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Culver City and have been seeing patients since 2014.

I am fluent in Russian and grew up in St. Petersburg.
