Laura Thomas, LMFT

Laura Thomas is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California with deep roots in South Asian culture (India). She earned her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Hope International University in 2021. As a biracial therapist, Laura is passionate about guiding clients through the complexities of identity exploration, helping them embrace their authentic selves at the intersection of culture, gender, neurodivergence, and sexual identity.

Laura works with teens, young adults, and adults, using a trauma-informed and integrative approach tailored to each client’s journey. She specializes in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotional regulation, relationship challenges, and stress management. Her therapeutic approach blends Humanistic principles with Person-Centered, Solution-Focused, and Feminist theories while incorporating CBT, DBT, and ACT to help clients reframe negative thoughts, regulate emotions, and cultivate mindfulness.

Laura is trained in EMDR and Brainspotting, powerful methods for processing trauma and fostering emotional healing. She also holds Level 1 and Level 2 Gottman certifications, equipping her with evidence-based techniques to support couples in strengthening their relationships.

Understanding that entering therapy can feel overwhelming, Laura meets clients where they are, fostering a compassionate and supportive space where every emotion is validated. She believes growth begins with self-awareness and that it’s never too late to challenge unhelpful patterns. With warmth, humor, and deep empathy, Laura walks alongside her clients at their own pace, empowering them to create meaningful change in their lives.
