Isabel Hernandez, LMFT

With over 17 years of experience in the mental health field, I bring a deep commitment to helping individuals and families navigate emotional challenges and build healthier, more meaningful lives. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), my work focuses on understanding the complex emotional, relational, and systemic factors that shape a person’s well-being.

I graduated from Southern California Seminary in San Diego, where I received advanced training in counseling and psychotherapy. My education and professional experience have equipped me to work with a wide range of emotional and relational concerns. I specialize in the treatment of emotional and mood disorders, including major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and trauma-related conditions. Much of my clinical experience has involved working with adults and young people, supporting them through periods of emotional distress, life transitions, and relational challenges.

My therapeutic approach is integrative and grounded in evidence-based practices. I frequently draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), family systems theory, and systemic approaches to help clients understand how thoughts, emotions, relationships, and life experiences interact to influence mental health. I also have extensive experience in trauma processing, helping clients safely explore, understand, and heal from difficult or painful experiences. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with families, adolescents, and adults, helping them strengthen communication, improve relational patterns, and develop greater emotional resilience.

For clients who desire it, I can also integrate a faith-based or biblical counseling perspective into the therapeutic process. I have extensive experience incorporating biblically informed principles alongside clinical treatment, always respecting each client’s personal beliefs and preferences. This approach is available to those who wish to explore their healing and growth through both psychological and spiritual frameworks.
At the heart of my work is a genuine interest in people’s stories—their relationships, emotional lives, and the deeper aspects of their identity and purpose. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is compassionate, collaborative, and respectful, where clients feel supported in exploring both their struggles and their capacity for healing and growth.
